So there was a break in the weather, and I looked at the interactive radar to see what it was looking like through the next few hours. I piled Dorian and Rocky into the car and we headed off to find a place to run, ended up all the way over at the USI/Burdette recreational trail.
My first mistake was bringing Rocky without really looking at the temps and the humidity, later on seeing that it started at 72 degrees, 88% humidity, dew point of 71 and by the end of my run it was 74 degrees, 89% humidity and a dew point of 72. By mile 5 and 6 Rocky was really suffering, by mile 7 I stopped and saved that workout knowing the final 2 miles were going to be a lot of walking. We ran that 7 miles in 1:15:54 with an average pace of 10:50 min/mile and an elevation gain of 273 feet and a loss of 281 feet.
Laps/splits were:
Mile 1 - 11:28
Mile 2 - 10:56
Mile 3 - 10:02
Mile 4 - 10:39
Mile 5 - 10:36
Mile 6 - 10:14
Mile 7 - 11:54
The final two miles were tough, mainly for Rocky and I was so mad at myself for taking Rocky with us but it hurts to leave him there as he wants to go so bad. We ran the final 2 miles in 22:09 with an average pace of 11:04 min/mile, an elevation gain of 54 feet and a loss of 154 feet.
Laps/splits were:
Mile 1 - 12:06
Mile 2 - 10:02
I was so happy to be done and felt so bad for Rocky, I'll remember not to take him on any runs over 4 miles if the humidity is high and the temperature is over 69 degrees.
In the "long run" I got a total of 13 miles today and a total of 34 miles for week 8. Not bad, I suppose.
